2D Animation Showreel
2D animations I’ve made for work or personal projects, using mostly Adobe Animate, Spine, After Effects, and Blender.
Music is "Mellowtron" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com. Music license: http://goo.gl/BlcHZR)
Bachelor project:
The Foxfinch
Frame-by-frame animated short film made in Adobe Flash, as a bachelor degree project. A collaboration with my friend Tina Alfredsen, we both did a bit of everything: Animations, backgrounds and sounds. Another friend made the music, Nicholai Smeby. It was part of the Children’s Film competition at Fredrikstad Animation Festival 2011.
Stop-motion short:
The Burning of Marzanna
A two week project in Einar Granum art school. My friend Adelajda helped me with the Polish folklore and drew concept art for the characters. In lack of a proper camera, I used my phone and the app Stop Motion Studio. Characters are filmed flat on a greenscreen (green paper), and then combined with the background I built from various materials.
I wanted to minimize post-production so it wouldn’t look digital, but I did a little work in After Effects: I gave the background a fade and tilt-shift focus, gave the characters a little shadow, and gave the fire a glow.
The backgrounds are made with found fabric, paper, and vegetation.
Walk cycle gif. I used a green sheet of paper as a greenscreen.
Work in progress of the dragon, with a paper prototype.
All the character models.
Grease Pencil experiment:
Blob Parkour
When Grease Pencil was added to Blender, I had to try it! I made this short animation loop which uses a repeating 3D background to make a seamless loop, and the blob character is animated in 2D frame-by-frame. To make it jump towards and away from the camera I simply move the whole 2D animation. Then I played around with the node-based compositing tools to create the night version.
