2D Animation Showreel
2D animations I’ve made for work or personal projects, using mostly Adobe Animate, Spine, After Effects, and Blender.
Music is "Mellowtron" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com. Music license: http://goo.gl/BlcHZR)
Bachelor project short film:
The Foxfinch
Frame-by-frame animated short film made in Adobe Flash, as a bachelor degree project. A collaboration with my friend Tina Alfredsen, we both did a bit of everything: Animations, backgrounds and sounds. Another friend made the music, Nicholai Smeby. It was part of the Children’s Film competition at Fredrikstad Animation Festival 2011.
Stop-motion short:
Julelenker
Julelenker = Christmas paper chains.
Made in 10 days at Einar Granum Kunstfagskole, December 2025. I modelled the characters in plasteline first, then made a silicone mold, and used that to cast the final characters in plaster. Then I painted them with acrylics. Quite a long process, but I got to use what I learned at school.
Big thanks to Henrik Waarum for camera and mac help, and thanks to Ingvild Kjær Tofte for lending and ordering materials! And the lovely music is "Adeste Fideles Waltz" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)
Two Jesi in plaster, one still in the mold, with some thread for reinforcing.
The nisse parts ready for making a silicone mold.
The setup, with Jesus.
The setup, now with two plexiglass frames to animate two layers of christmas chains.
The nisse, with the top hand resting on a thick screw. Should've had a better setup, it kept falling off.
Stop-motion short:
The Burning of Marzanna
A two week project in Einar Granum art school. My friend Adelajda helped me with the Polish folklore and drew concept art for the characters. In lack of a proper camera, I used my phone and the app Stop Motion Studio. Characters are filmed flat on a greenscreen (green paper), and then combined with the background I built from various materials.
I wanted to minimize post-production so it wouldn’t look digital, but I did a little work in After Effects: I gave the background a fade and tilt-shift focus, gave the characters a little shadow, and gave the fire a glow.
The backgrounds are made with found fabric, paper, and vegetation.
Walk cycle gif. I used a green sheet of paper as a greenscreen.
Work in progress of the dragon, with a paper prototype.
All the character models.
Grease Pencil experiment:
Blob Parkour
When Grease Pencil was added to Blender, I had to try it! I made this short animation loop which uses a repeating 3D background to make a seamless loop, and the blob character is animated in 2D frame-by-frame. To make it jump towards and away from the camera I simply move the whole 2D animation. Then I played around with the node-based compositing tools to create the night version.
